What Zeitlicht is for

… understand the three surfaces Zeitlicht gives you and when to use each one.

Before you start

Here's how

1. Open Board. This is the task surface. Cards move from left to right until they land in Done.
2. The Focus column holds exactly one task. That card drives the timer. Put the thing you are doing now there – not three things at once. Move a second task in and the first one goes back where it came from.
3. Give a column a limit if you want to see when too much sits there. Every column except Done can carry one, and going over shows a hint on the header instead of blocking the move.
4. Add a task with nothing but a title. Due date, priority, estimate, checklist, and recurrence are modules you switch on per task when you need them. They belong to Pro and Ultra; on Free the path only leads to Choose your plan.
5. Open Notes. These are full documents, not tasks. Use them for research, minutes, or thoughts you later attach to tasks. You can search them and pin the ones you keep coming back to.
6. Open Timer. The light column burns down the chosen duration, so you read the time left from the corner of your eye instead of a clock. Pick a fixed duration or Pomodoro with rounds and breaks; a sound closes the session. You can still set a timer without a Focus task, but the Focus card will be missing.
7. Connect the surfaces when one thought should live in more than one place: in descriptions and notes you can mention topics, tags, tasks, notes, and people with #, ##, ###, ####, and @.
