Layout and navigation

I want to …

… understand how Zeitlicht is laid out and move between Board, Notes, Timer, Topics, and Settings.

Before you start

  • You are signed in and inside a workspace.
  • On a wide screen the destinations sit in a left rail. On a phone they sit in a bottom bar.

Here's how

  1. Open the app at start.zeitlicht.app or in the iOS or Android app.
  2. Look at the main navigation. It has five destinations: Board, Notes, Timer, Topics & Tags, and Settings.
  3. On desktop: the destinations sit in the left NavigationRail. The Zeitlicht logo is at the top. Tap the logo to slide in the workspace switcher. The app bar title is the current board name, with a down arrow. Tap it to switch boards.
  4. On a phone: the five destinations sit in the bottom NavigationBar. The logo and the board name sit in the top app bar. Tap the logo for the workspace switcher, and the board name for the board menu.
  5. Switch to Notes, then Timer, then back to Board. You stay in the same workspace. If a note or task still has unsaved text, Unsaved changes appears first.
  6. When a timer is running, a small light appears in the left rail. Tap it to jump to the timer.
  7. When Hyperfocus is on, navigation shrinks to Board and Timer. The other destinations stay hidden until you turn Hyperfocus off.

You know where Board, Notes, Timer, Topics, and Settings live, how to switch workspaces from the logo, and how to switch boards from the title.

Common questions

Why are Topics and Settings missing?

In Hyperfocus only Board and Timer remain. Turn Hyperfocus off with the toggle in the rail or the app bar.

Where do I manage members?

Open Settings in the current workspace. The Members row is there. You can also go to /w/…/members.

The board keeps showing a spinner

If loading takes more than a few seconds, This is taking longer than expected. appears under the spinner, with Retry. Tap Retry to load the board again.
