Create and manage topics

I want to …

… create themes, attach them to tasks, and later rename or delete them.

Before you start

  • Topics group work. A task can carry one topic.
  • The old Epics path redirects here.

Here's how

  1. Tap Topics & Tags in the navigation.
  2. The Topics tab is selected. The other tab is Tags.
  3. Tap the plus New topic.
  4. Enter a Topic name and an optional Description. Save.
  5. The list shows name and description. The pencil edits both; delete removes the topic.
  6. The search at the top right expands from a magnifier. Escape or the close icon clears and collapses it.
  7. To put a topic on a task: open the task, pick Topic in the header, or use the topic pill on the card.
  8. In a description, type # plus the name to link the topic.

The result

Topics exist in the workspace. Tasks can carry one, and the board can filter by them.

Common questions

What happens to tasks if I delete a topic?

The tasks stay. The topic drops off them.

Can a task have several topics?

No. One topic per task. Use tags for extra labels.
