Edit a task

I want to …

… change a task title and description and know when they are saved.

Before you start

  • Tap a card on the board to open the detail screen.
  • The Save checkmark sits at the top right.

Here's how

  1. Open the task from its card on the board.
  2. The title is at the top. Tap it, change the text, and leave the field or press Enter – the title saves.
  3. The description sits below with the toolbar. Write prose, format with the toolbar, and link with #, ##, ###, ####, or @. In a checklist or bullet list, Tab indents the line and Shift+Tab moves it back. Enter on an empty item goes one level back; on the outermost level it turns into normal text.
  4. Tap the Save checkmark in the app bar when you want to keep the description.
  5. If you leave with an unsaved description – back arrow, another tab, the workspace switcher, or the timer light in the rail – Unsaved changes appears: Cancel stays, Discard throws the edit away, Save writes it.
  6. Modules (date, priority, checklist, …) save themselves as soon as you change them.
  7. Go back with the arrow at the top left.

The result

Title, description, and modules are current. Zeitlicht will not let you leave a dirty description silently.

Common questions

I do not see a checkmark.

The description is already saved. The checkmark appears when the text differs from the last saved state.

Do assignee and topic go through Save?

No. The top bar (person, topic, watchers) saves as soon as you pick a value.
