Go through parked links with Random

I want to …

… decide about my parked links one at a time instead of scrolling a long list.

Before you start

  • You need at least one parked link in the Parking lot.
  • Random works on every plan and for every role. Do it creates a task, so on Free the limit of 20 active tasks applies.

Here's how

  1. Open Notes, tap the row Parking lot, then tap the shuffle icon (Random) at the top. On a phone a sheet opens, on desktop a window.
  2. You see exactly one link: its title, its host, when you parked it, and its light line. Tap the card to open the link.
  3. Tap Do it to turn the link into a task on the board you are in. It lands in the column right before Done, on the standard board in Today, and never in a Backlog column. The link sits in the description as a pill and leaves the parking lot. The line below says Added to Today.; tap Focus next to it to make the task your focus task.
  4. Tap Keep to light the link for another 30 days.
  5. Tap Let go to remove it. Undo brings it back within a few seconds.
  6. After each choice the next link slides in. Every second one comes from the links with the least light left, so what is about to fade gets its turn.
  7. When you have seen them all, Random says You have seen every parked link. Close the sheet or the window.
  8. The same choices sit in each link's menu in the parking lot: press and hold on a phone, click the three dots on desktop.

The result

The parking lot shrinks one decision at a time, and what matters ends up on the board.

Common questions

Which board does Do it use?

The board you last had open in this workspace. The parking lot is the same in every workspace; the task goes to the one you are in.

Why does Do it show the plans instead?

On Free a workspace holds 20 active tasks. Move one to Done first, or tap Choose plan to upgrade.

Where does the task land if the board has no Done column?

In the last column. A Backlog column is never used.
