Park links from other apps
I want to …
… close a tab or leave an app without losing the link: share it, click a bookmark, or drag it, and Zeitlicht parks it.
Before you start
- Parking works on Free, Pro, and Ultra, and for Owner, Admin, and Member alike. Free holds up to 30 links; Pro and Ultra have no practical limit.
- Your parking lot is personal. Only you see it, and it is the same in every workspace.
- Sign in to Zeitlicht on the device first.
- At the top of the parking lot, a note points the way:
Park from any pagewithSet up bookmarkin the web app,Park from any appwithHow it worksin the iPhone, iPad, and Android app. The button opens the steps. The button or the cross (Close) ends the note on this platform for your account: closed in one browser, it stays away in every browser, but the iPhone app still shows its own. - In the parking lot, the
⋯menu always explains these ways:Park from other appsin the iPhone and Android app,Park from the browserin the web app.
Here's how
- On Android, in Chrome or any other app, tap the share button and choose Zeitlicht. On iPhone and iPad this works the same way in Safari, Chrome, YouTube, X, and other apps. In Safari, Share is in the menu on the left of the address bar.
- A small sheet slides up over the app. Zeitlicht parks the link right away: small lights glide into a glowing P. Then the sheet shows
Parkedwith the title and the site, and the line at the top fills with light. With reduced motion the P stands still. - The sheet closes by itself after 2 seconds. Touch it to keep it open. Then close it with the cross (
Close), a tap next to the sheet, or Back. - Changed your mind? Tap
Undowhile the sheet is open. A new link leaves the parking lot again. A link that was parked before keeps the light it had. - If the shared text holds several links, the sheet says how many, for example
12 links found. TapPark all. - Many Chrome tabs at once on Android: in Chrome's tab overview, select the tabs through the three-dot menu, share them (
Share tabs), and choose Zeitlicht. TapPark all, then close the tabs in Chrome. - Many Safari tabs at once on iPhone: in Safari's tab overview, touch and hold the number of tabs and choose
Copy N Links. In Zeitlicht, open the parking lot, choosePaste linksin the⋯menu, paste, and tapPark all. - In the browser on a computer, open the parking lot in the web app, tap
Set up bookmarkin the note at the top or choosePark from the browserin the⋯menu, and drag the buttonPark in Zeitlichtto your bookmarks bar. Without a bookmarks bar, tapCopyand paste the code as the address of a new bookmark. - On any page, click the bookmark. A small window opens and parks the page while the P glows, then shows
Parked. It closes by itself once the link is saved. - You can also drag an address from the browser's address bar onto the parking lot in the web app. While you drag, the lot shows
Drop to park.
The result
The link sits in your parking lot and stays lit for 30 days. Parking the same link again lights it for another 30 days instead of adding a twin.
Common questions
What if I am not signed in?
On Android the sheet says Sign in to Zeitlicht to park links. Tap Open Zeitlicht, sign in, and share the link again. On iPhone and iPad the sheet shows Parked and below it Still saving. You can close this window: Zeitlicht finishes the next time it opens. The link waits on the device until you open Zeitlicht and sign in. The bookmark's window offers Sign in and parks the link once you are signed in.
Why does the bookmark's window ask me to tap Park?
Your bookmark carries a personal key, so it parks without a question. A window that opens without that key, for example from another website or from a bookmark with an old key, shows the link and waits for your tap on Park. Keep the bookmark to yourself.
How do I get a new key for the bookmark?
The bookmark hands its key to the window it opens, and a web page could catch it on the way. If you suspect that, open the parking lot in the web app, choose Park from the browser in the ⋯ menu, and tap Make a new key. Your old bookmark then asks before it parks. Drag the button to your bookmarks bar again and delete the old bookmark.
What if I close the bookmark's window early?
The link waits in this browser. Zeitlicht parks it the next time you open the web app there. If the window cannot reach the server for a while, it says so.
What if I close the sheet early?
If the sheet is still parking, Back, the cross, or a tap next to it close the sheet as soon as the link is saved. Home or the app switcher close it at once. The link then waits on the phone, and Zeitlicht parks it the next time you open the app. On iPhone and iPad the link is already safe on the device as soon as the sheet appears. The cross or a tap next to it sends it off and closes the sheet.
What if I share again while the sheet is open?
The new share waits its turn. Once the link on the sheet is done, the sheet shows the next one and waits for your tap on Park or Park all. That way no other app can park links through an open sheet. Tap the cross (Close) to skip it.
What if my parking lot is full?
On Free nothing new is parked, and the sheet or window says Your parking lot is full. A link that is parked already still lights up again. If only some of several links fit, the message says how many did not, for example 3 links did not fit. Should the server still turn links down, for example because another device filled the lot, the sheet switches from Parked to Your parking lot is full. or Could not park. Try again.
What if I share more than 500 links at once?
The sheet takes the first 500 and says Only the first 500 links are parked. Share the rest afterwards.
Does parking work offline?
Yes. On Android the link is on the parking lot on this phone at once and reaches your other devices once you are back online. On iPhone and iPad it waits on the device, and Zeitlicht parks it the next time you open the app.
What does Zeitlicht keep of the link?
The address without tracking parameters such as utm_source, and the title the app or page gives. Without a title, the site and path stand in.
What if the shared text has no link?
The sheet says There is no link in what you shared. Pictures and files cannot be parked.
Why is Zeitlicht missing from the share menu on the iPhone?
Swipe the row of apps all the way to the right and tap More. There you can switch Zeitlicht on and drag it to the front. Open Zeitlicht once after installing it and sign in, so the share menu can park right away. The connected device then shows under Connected devices.
Where did the note at the top of the parking lot go?
You tapped its button or the cross. It stays away on this platform for your account, on every device. The same ways are always in the ⋯ menu.
