Edit a note together in real time

I want to …

… write in the same note with teammates at the same time and see what they change.

Before you start

The note must be Public. Private notes and the Random Note stay with their author.
Works in every plan (Free, Pro, Ultra) and for every role (Owner, Admin, Member).
Everyone edits the text and the title. Deleting the note, switching visibility, and adding or removing attachments stay with the author.

Here's how

Open a public note. You do not need to be its author.
When someone else has the same note open, their avatar appears in the app bar with a colored ring. Hover it to read Editing now: and the names.
Their cursor shows in the text as a thin line in the same color, with their name on a small tag above it. Selected text gets a light highlight in that color.
Type as usual. Their changes appear in your text as they type, and yours appear for them. Typing in the same line at the same time is fine – nothing is overwritten.
A title change shows up for the others about half a second after the last keystroke, unless they are typing in the title field themselves.
The status next to the avatars shows Syncing… or Saved, the same as in a note you edit alone.
Tap the Done checkmark when you are finished. The others keep editing.

The result

Everyone in the note works on one shared text, sees each other's cursors, and nobody's edits get lost.

Common questions

Why don't I see someone who has the note open?

Avatars and cursors appear for people active in the note in the last minute. If someone's connection drops, their cursor disappears after about a minute.

What if two people delete and type in the same spot?

Zeitlicht merges both edits in the order they reached the server, so every screen ends up with the same text.

What happens if the author makes the note private while I edit?

You lose access right away and the note closes for you.
