Make a note private or public

I want to …

… control whether only I see a note or the whole workspace.

Before you start

  • Private means only you. Public means everyone in the workspace.
  • The Random Note has no visibility toggle.

Here's how

  1. Open the note.
  2. The Visibility control sits in the app bar.
  3. Private shows Only you can see this note.
  4. Switch to Public. The hint becomes Visible to everyone in this workspace.
  5. Save. In the list the subtitle shows Private or Public when you are not searching body text.
  6. Other members do not see private notes in their list or in link suggestions.

The result

The note is either yours alone or workspace-public.

Common questions

Can admins see private notes?

No. Private applies to owner and admin as well.

Can I make a public note private later?

Yes. Same control, then save.
