Attach a file to a note

I want to …

… attach a file to a note and open it again from the text.

Before you start

  • You need Pro or Ultra.
  • Only the author can add or remove attachments.
  • Storage lives in Frankfurt (Google Cloud, europe-west3).
  • Images, documents, and unknown files: 10 MB each. Video and audio: 50 MB.
  • Per note: 10 attachments and 75 MB combined.
  • Executables, scripts, HTML, SVG, and Office files with macros are blocked.

Here's how

  1. Open the note.
  2. Tap Attach file in the toolbar and pick a file.
  3. For images, Zeitlicht offers compression (longest edge 2560 px). Upload original keeps the full file if you want that.
  4. During the upload you see progress and can tap Cancel upload.
  5. After the upload a placeholder with the file name sits in the text. Tap it to open or download the file.
  6. Delete the placeholder in the text. Save removes the file and frees workspace storage.

The result

The file is part of the note, sits in the text as a placeholder, and counts against the workspace quota.

Common questions

Why was the upload rejected?

The file is too large, the type is blocked, the note already has 10 attachments, or the workspace is full.

What happens if I close the note without Save?

The upload already stored the file. The next time you open the note, Zeitlicht puts the placeholder back at the end of the text.
